Of this package, $225 million are earmarked for the modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The administration of US President Joe Biden has officially announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine immediately for $3 billion.
According to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, the package will include, among other things, armored vehicles (Bradley infantry fighting vehicles) and self-propelled howitzers.
$225 million from this package is intended for the modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the development of military capabilities for the long term.
US assistance to Ukraine
Yesterday, Reuters reported that the next package of assistance to Kiev will include Bradley infantry fighting vehicles . A total of 50 cars will be transferred.
On January 4, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the United States was preparing a new aid package for Ukraine. Additional installations of HIMARS multiple rocket launchers may enter there.
On December 21, 2022, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken officially announced a new $1.85 billion military aid package for Ukraine. It will also include Patriot air defense systems.

Let’s hope the US is able to continue aid. Right wing politicians are positioning themselves in the house now to be able to limit aid.
It’s comical how commenters on this site take the hard-right Bolton seriously when he says democrats are more a threat to aid than republicans. It’s like saying there are Nazis in Ukraine that need to be defeated militarily.
He only says that to gain power for his party. It’s not connected to truth.
Thus far Ukraine has not been a partisan issue. Yeah there are some Republicans that want military audits (and they are happening) and many Democrats are insisting aid be tethered with negotiations and compromises on occupied territories. Pick your poison.
Bolton is not hard-right. He supports Ukraine. The hard right supports putler. Bolton is highly critical of the latter.

3 billion is a lot of money.
Something really nice is 18 M-109 SPGs a full artillery battalion’s worth. The UkraF already has some from other sources but more are needed. at least another 150 so that each Armored Brigafe has a battalion. This will give the 5 Armored Brigades a highly moble punch.
Eventually Ukraine needs to replace all of the Soviet era guns particulaly the towed ones in the heavy brigades with M-109s. It is modern, upgradeable and avialable in numbers. The longer rang guns such as the Krab cna be kept in the artillery brigades and attached to which ever brigade and/or brigades are the main effort.
