Head of the German Navy Vice Admiral Kay-Achim Schönbach has resigned after saying that Crimea will never return to Ukraine,German publication BILD reports.
German Defense Minister Christine Lambrech and Bundeswehr Inspector General Eberhard Zorn resigned. According to the publication, Schönbach will be replaced by Rear Admiral Jan Christian Kaack, Deputy Commander of the German Navy.
As it was reported, head of the German Navy Vice Admiral Kay-Achim Schönbach said that Ukraine would not be able to return the temporarily occupied Crimea. He made the relevant statement during a speech at a conference in the Indian Manohar Parrikar Institute of Defense Studies.
He also stated that Putin’s goal is not “a small strip of Ukrainian land”, but the split of the European Union.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine considers the statements of the Commander of the German Navy Kay-Achim Schönbach to be categorically unacceptable.

F1: I listened to two podcasts yesterday: Brian Whitmore’s latest and that of Mark Galeotti.
They came to opposite conclusions. Brian and his colleague believe that a large scale invasion is imminent. Mark believes the military posturing is a feint.
For the first time, I felt angry with Brian. His jocularity with his friend was disturbing to say the least.
I very much hope that Mark is right.

I have problems with my iphone sometimes, I upvote and then I notice later it didn’t take for some reason. iPhones can be strange at times I think.
