Unmanned Systems Forces presented Tryzub laser weapon system

The Unmanned Systems Forces have presented the operation and capabilities of the Ukrainian Tryzub laser weapon system for the first time.

Vadym Sukharevskyi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, released the video during the conference “European Defense Industry: Prospects for Cooperation with the Ukrainian Defense Industry.”

It is stated that the Ukrainian laser can destroy attack drones, bombs, cruise, and ballistic missiles at a distance of up to 3000 meters, and helicopters, airplanes, and reconnaissance drones at a distance of up to 5000 meters.

In addition, the laser can be used to blind drones, cruise missiles, helicopters, and airplanes at a range of up to 10,000 meters.

During the tests, the laser was used to hit a ground target, as well as to blind the camera of a fiber-optic FPV drone.

Judging by the video, although the laser system is equipped with an optoelectronic station, the targeting is done manually with a joystick, not automatically. However, judging by the video, the system is still at the stage of a functional prototype, so this feature will likely be added later.

The use of the Tryzub laser system was first announced in December 2024.

“We can state that today, Ukraine is, if I’m not mistaken, the fifth country that can say it has a laser. Today, we can shoot down airplanes at an altitude of more than 2 km with this laser,” Vadym Sukharevskyi shared at the time.

In February 2025, it was reported that the domestic laser system had been developed by specialists in a few months. It is currently undergoing appropriate tests to confirm its characteristics.

“I am supporting this project so that with the help of technological solutions, we can effectively shoot down enemy reconnaissance drones and ensure the defense of strategic facilities and places of residence of our population,” Sukharevskyi said.

According to the commander, there is a possibility that in the future, mobile air defense groups will be able to receive full-fledged laser systems instead of machine guns, which will significantly increase their effectiveness in the fight against drones.

However, the detailed characteristics of this system, including laser power and the platform on which it will be installed, are still unknown.

  1. Ukraine will be fighting with space age weapons, while the scum are reduced to donkeys and old WW2 vehicles. I hope they can produce enough of these to protect Ukrainian cities from the genocidal attacks on civilians.

  2. Nice! I hope that Ukraine can produce enough of these lasers to protect their cities from criminal drone attacks.
