Ukrainians conducted a unique operation to disrupt Russian attempts to unblock Starlink: all the details.

12.02.2026

Ukrainian cyberguerrilla communities InformNapalm and MILITANT, together with hackers from the “256th Cyber Assault Division”, conducted an operation to prevent attempts to unlock Starlink terminals blocked in Russia. To do this, they created a network of channels and bots, where they offered activation services for a modest fee.

This was reported on the official social networks of InformNapalm . They emphasized that the enemy had a sharp transition from Starlink to other technologies, as a result of which the intensity of the enemy’s strikes was suspended.

What is known

In a week of such work, Ukrainian cyberguerrillas received:

  • 2420 data packets on enemy Starlink and precise enemy positions;
  • 31 appeals from those who agreed to cooperate with the enemy;
  • $5,870 from the Russian military, who were desperately looking for a solution to a communication problem.

As a result, information about enemy terminals was provided to activist Serhiy Sternenko for total blocking. In addition, data on collaborators has already been transferred to law enforcement agencies for processing.

At the same time, the money received from enemy fighters was directed to the closure of several relevant training courses for Ukrainian troops, but it is not reported what exactly they plan to purchase for the army personnel.

What preceded

As a reminder, earlier, Defense Minister’s advisor and radio technology expert Sergei “Flash” Beskrestnov said that the Russians are trying to find ways to activate the Starlink terminals that are blocked for them. He threatened anyone who cooperates with the enemy military with imprisonment.

The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense appealed directly to Elon Musk, and the billionaire agreed to help Ukraine block the enemy’s terminals. So, at the end of January, the blocking process began .

As OBOZ.UA reported, on February 2, Mikhail Fedorov announced  the launch of Starlink terminal verification in Ukraine. He said that  only verified and registered terminals will operate in the country, and all others will be disabled to combat the use of Starlink by Russian forces.
