Ukrainian UAVs Target Refinery, russian Air Defense Targets high-rise Building

08/13/2025

Russia has complained about another nighttime drone attack. Explosions were heard in Volgograd, in particular in the area where the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery is located, and the wreckage of a drone shot down by Russian air defense fell on a high-rise building.

And in the Kuban, the refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban was under the sights of drones. This is reported by Russian media.

What is known

Last night, residents of the Russian city of Volgograd complained about loud explosions. In particular, they were heard in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the city. In the same district, the Lukoil-Volgogradnefteperebka refinery is located, which has been repeatedly attacked by drones. In particular, the attack on it occurred on the night of February 15 of this year.

It is currently unknown how effective the current attack was .

But the Russian air defense did a great job. The Russians again tried to shoot down drones right over residential buildings, and this time they were quite successful. The governor of the region, Andrey Bocharov, announced at around 02:30 in the morning that the air defense was “practicing a massive UAV attack” on the region, habitually emphasized the “absence of casualties and damaged objects” and reported “falling debris” on the roof of a 16-story residential building.

“In the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd, fragments of a UAV were recorded falling onto the roof of a 16-story residential building on Opolchenskaya Street. Specialists of the operational services are evacuating the residents of the building in order to ensure safety during the examination of the fragments by sappers,” the official noted.

The Russians will be placed in temporary accommodation points for the period of “elimination of the consequences of the fall of the UAV debris.”

Due to the “drone danger” , Volgograd airport temporarily suspended the reception and release of aircraft from approximately 01:30, Rosaviatsia reported. The restriction was lifted only after 05:00. At the same time, the Aeroflot flight Volgograd-Moscow scheduled for 05:45 was canceled , and the Rossiya airline flight to Moscow was postponed from 05:00 to 09:05.

The arrival of flights from Sharm el-Sheikh, Makhachkala, Moscow, and Astrakhan has been postponed.

Residents of Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Krasnodar Krai also complained about very loud explosions starting at about 3 a.m. and for at least an hour afterward.

While Russians in local chat rooms were asking each other “what was that?”, Russian propagandists announced an “attempted attack on the refinery” – of course, “unsuccessful.”

“UAV drones tried to attack the refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Territory. The wreckage of one of the destroyed UAVs fell on the territory of the enterprise, as a result, the GAZelle caught fire. No one was injured. The fire was quickly extinguished, emergency services are now working on the site. Earlier, a drone danger was declared in the region,” wrote one of the Russian publics.

As in the case of Volgograd, the results of the attack have yet to be known.

As OBOZ.UA reported, the day before it became known that drones had again attacked the Shahed storage terminal in Tatarstan. The SBU, whose officers carried out the attack, revealed the details.

It was also reported that on August 12, GUR drones attacked Russia’s only plant producing helium for rockets. Several explosions were heard on the premises of the plant.

  1. Wonderful! Ukraine is going after the mafia oil industry with a vengeance. Let all oil depots and refineries burn.

  2. Don’t we feel bad that the Russians are complaining about the drone attacks. I for one feel really bad…NOT.
