Map of fighting in Russia’s Kursk region

Ammunition depots intended for a Russian offensive in the Sumy region have been captured by Ukraine near the town of Sudzha in the Kursk region of Russia.

Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army South, said this in a commentary for Nexta.

Bratchuk stated that the Ukrainian military plans to not only advance in the Kursk region but also to hold their positions and build fortifications.

“Depots containing logistics support and ammunition for Russia’s North group of troops, which was intended to advance on the Sumy region, were seized in the Suzha district,” Bratchuk explained.

He also noted that the lack of information significantly contributed to the operation’s success: “The Russians were caught off guard and were shocked.”

  • On August 8, the National Guard of Russia announced that it had implemented additional security measures at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant to protect a “particularly important facility.”
  • The Washington Post reported that Ukraine has taken control of the gas metering station in Sudzha, Kursk region. Previously, Russia claimed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had occupied several border villages and part of the town of Sudzha.
  • Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stated that Ukraine’s actions in the Kursk region in Russia “are consistent with U.S. policy” and do not cause any escalation.

  1. Whoa! Now we’re talking! That’s worlds better than destroying them!
    Слава Україні!
    Героям слава!

  2. A lot of the “Experts” have said this offencive is of little value. What they failed to see is that it is also a spoiling attack to disrupt Russia’s plans to continue to widen the area of operations.

    • I’ve stopped listening to all those experts after they predicted Ukraine’s fall to happen a week or so after the full-scale invasion (and other miscalculations).
