Ukrainian military forces have recently advanced southeast of Orikhiv, Zaporizhia Oblast. Meanwhile, Russian occupation forces continue to attempt to penetrate Ukrainian defenses, attempting to surround the city.
This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Analysts refer, in particular, to the report of Ukrainian military observer Kostyantyn Mashovets.
Where have the Ukrainian military advanced and what is Russia planning?
According to Mashovets, Ukrainian defenders have cleared Russian positions in most of the territory of Malaya Tokmachka, located southeast of Orekhov. The Defense Forces also continue to confidently control Novoandriyivka and Novopavlivka, and also hold positions north of Stepovoye and Lobkovye.
At the same time, Russian troops carried out infiltrations in a number of areas of the front. In particular, they penetrated northwest of Maly Shcherbaky, southwest of Pavlovka, and in the area of Lukyanivske – all of these settlements are located west of Orekhov.

In addition, according to Mashovets, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have penetrated the southern part of Primorsky. They probably took advantage of the dried bottom of the Kakhovka reservoir.
The observer noted that the occupiers are using the former bottom of the reservoir to bypass Ukrainian defensive positions in Plavny and advance towards Malokaterynivka, which is located north of Prymorske.
According to Mashovets, Russian troops continue to try to surround Orikhiv from the east and west. At the same time, they are seeking to penetrate directly into the city in order to later resume offensive operations in the direction of Zaporizhia.

As a reminder, Russian troops are building up forces in the Hulyaipil direction and in the western part of Zaporizhia region. However, despite the transfer of additional units and equipment, the enemy is only able to advance in certain sections of the front, without achieving significant results.
As OBOZ.UA wrote, Ukrainian defenders continue to inflict losses on the Russian occupation forces. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has published new data on the enemy’s losses per day.
