The frequency range in which the two-way radio can potentially operate is very wide – 200-1000 MHz. The modern front is filled to the maximum with trench electronic warfare means against drones and choosing the optimal range on the battlefield is becoming increasingly difficult.
The radio has all the military attributes: a durable dust- and moisture-proof housing, AES 256 encryption, PPRC, fast data deletion. It operates in the MESH network (a mode where each radio station is a repeater for other stations).
The developers have also created a cheap and disposable repeater. Such repeaters can be dropped onto the terrain or objects (heights, roofs of buildings, etc.) on the eve of the operation and will create extensive radio coverage for soldiers for 48 hours. A similar practice is used by US Special Forces during local special operations.
The output power of the radio station is 1 watt, and the built-in battery provides operation for 3–4 days.
It is also very cool that the developers have integrated low-speed data transmission into the two-way radio for the exchange of target designations, dispatches, and coordinates. Chimera supports work with the Nettle and Combat Vision 4.0 systems
The author will test the radio to find out about its vulnerability to suppression by electronic warfare means and to see if it can be detected by directional finding by enemy electronic warfare means. A test for the maximum communication ranges in different modes will also be conducted. Certain results will be reported later, and some things will not for obvious reasons.
In conclusion, it is extremely important for Ukrainian to have its own radio communication developer to work in the country and not to transfer production and development abroad, where they would be very welcome by foreign militaries.

This report is exclusive for Ukraine Today.
This brief article illustrates the complexities of a modern battlefield where even simple communications with walkie-talkies can both be difficult, due to the overloaded radio frequency bands, and dangerous, due to the enemy being able to find your position when using a non-appropriate radio.
The new model from Chimera sounds quite promising. I hope it passes all tests. It would be a very valuable addition to the Ukrainian forces in its epic fight against the crime syndicate.
