Ukrainian paratroopers during the operation in the Kursk region captured the brand new Russian tank T-90M Proryv. The Russians left it without a fight.
This was reported on Telegram by the 80th Separate Air Assault Galician Brigade.
According to the paratroopers, the tank became their trophy during a raid in the Kursk region. At the same time, the Russians themselves left the combat vehicle in panic without a fight, having previously brought it to a technical malfunction.
“The paratroopers of the 80th brigade quickly evaluated and mastered the armor, repaired it, started and now the war machine will destroy its creators on the side of Ukraine,” the description to the video reads.
The T-90M is a modern Russian main battle tank, an upgraded version of the T-90 series that appeared in the early 1990s. The T-90M was the successor to the T-90A.
The main weapon of the T-90M is the 125-mm smoothbore gun 2A46M-5, which allows firing various types of shells, including guided missiles, which significantly increases the accuracy of firing at long ranges. In addition, the tank is equipped with an automatic charging system, which speeds up the process of preparing the gun for firing.
The T-90M has combined armor with the use of dynamic protection “Relekt”, which effectively resists cumulative ammunition and armor-piercing sub-caliber shells. This protection system is significantly improved compared to previous versions of the tank.

Great catch!! 🇺🇦💪
It sounded like a repeat from a week ago, but then the 80th Air Assault Brigade captured a Russian T-80BVM, while here the same brigade is reporting the capture of a T-90M. Those people keep busy! 🙂
Indeed, Larry, indeed.
Actually, I *knew* it sounded familiar. There was a post here 3 days ago that captioned a picture, “Captured T-90M of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, but no text mentioning the T-90. I commented with an article from Newsweek about the captured T-90.
Are you saying that this happened only once but was reported as two T-90s being captured?
I don’t know. The above post and linked Telegram post are both dated the 18th. There aren’t enough details given to say if it’s the same T-90M that was reported about on the 15th. But it’s definitely different than the T-80BVM mentioned in the Aug. 12 post. (The latter is all that popped up when I did a search on this group.)
