Russian language became only ‘state language’ in DPR armed group

The so-called Donetsk People’s Republic decided that the Ukrainian language would no longer have the status of “state” in the part of the Donetsk region, which is controlled by Russian hybrid forces. Radio Liberty wrote, referring to separatist resources.

Such a decision was proposed by the ‘MPs’ of the so-called “People’s Council of the DPR” to the proposal of the leader of the group, Denis Pushilin.

“The establishment of the Russian language as the state language will help increase and enrich the spiritual culture of the state, strengthen interstate relations. In modern realities, when establishing the status of the DPR, it is necessary to take into account the intensity of integration processes between the DPR and the Russian Federation,” the words of the representative of Pushilin cite separatist resources.

The Russian language became the only “state language” in the “DPR” grouping.

Until now, in the territory controlled by militants supported by Russia, the Ukrainian language formally retained the status of “state”.
