Journalist Viktoriya Roshchyna died in Russian captivity during the staging from Taganrog to Moscow, the head of the press service of the coordination headquarters, Petro Yatsenko, said on the air of the telethon.

He also added that the circumstances of her death are currently unknown.

Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, the head of the parliamentary committee on freedom of speech, reported on this event earlier, but his Telegram post was soon deleted.

The former head of the press center of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, wrote on his Facebook page:

“Recently, she had a birthday and I was afraid to write her something, knowing that she is probably in captivity of the Russians. I did not want to harm her… I remembered her very well among thousands of journalists precisely because of her courage and thirst for the profession of a journalist. Then , in the spring of 2022, she came from the FSB, from Mariupol. Then Vika left again.

He added that in this way the occupiers “remove the real witnesses of their crimes in Mariupol”. And he shared a picture of Roschyna in the same coat in which she went to an interview with the head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Vitaly Kim.

HUR representative Andriy Yusov said in a comment to ” Suspilno ” that Roschyna was on the lists for prisoner exchange. In addition, “she was supposed to be home soon”:

“Her return was agreed and last known, she was staged in Lefortovo in order to prepare for her return home.”

Disappearance of journalist Victoria Roschyna
