On the edge of no man’s land

Kyiv Independent reporter Francis Farrell and videographer Olena Zashko spent the day with Ukrainian soldiers at infantry positions near Toretsk in Donetsk Oblast. They hold the last positions before no man’s land: the gray zone between warring sides, where any movement makes you a target. Just 150 meters across the uneven ground, in positions that likely look very similar, are russian soldiers.
