On the evening of September 9, Sochi came under attack from Ukrainian Armed Forces drones. A warning was issued in the city and the village of Sirius regarding drones and unmanned boats, and sirens were sounded in the streets. The Kuban regional task force reported that Sochi had been attacked by naval drones, resulting in a “fire” on the embankment. According to preliminary reports, one person was injured. Emergency services are working at the scene, the statement said. No further details were provided. Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin wrote on his Telegram channel that “all forces and resources are working to protect the city” and urged residents to take shelter.
Ukrainian monitoring channels are publishing footage of the attack, which appears to show fire at unspecified targets. One video appears to show the downing of an aerial drone. Other videos also show several explosions on the Sochi embankment, causing fires. Supernova and Krymskiy Veter claim that the BEK strike may have hit the area of the Sochi seaport. Exilenova+ reports that only one naval drone was involved in the attack. Following the attack, traffic around the Sochi port was blocked, and the embankment was also closed to visitors. Last night, Ukrainian Armed Forces drones attacked Russia’s largest port, Novorossiysk, hitting a fuel oil terminal.

The attack killed four people, including a child, Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported. At least 29 more residents were injured, three of whom are in serious condition. Five apartment buildings, three private buildings, a church, and a kindergarten were also damaged, the regional governor stated.
In Sochi, a concert by singer Tatyana Bulanova, taking place at the Festivalny Hall, was stopped during an evening attack, local social media groups report . The artist managed to perform the first part of her set, and after the alarm sounded, the audience was evacuated.
Prior to this, Ukrainian drones attacked the port of Sochi on the morning of September 3. A drone had previously struck the supply vessel Nefrit, designed to support offshore oil and gas operations.
