Russia has complained about a drone attack on Millerovo, Rostov Region. Explosions were heard in the city at night, after which local residents saw a glow from the fire.
One of the likely targets of the night attack could have been a local military airfield, from which the Russians often launch “Shahed” suicide drones. The Russian Telegram channel “VChK-OGPU” writes about the consequences of the attack.
What is known
The Rostov region was under attack by drones last night. In particular, explosions were heard in Millerovo.
After them, a fire broke out in the area of a military airfield located near the city.
“In Rostov, after the UAV attack, eyewitnesses observe a fire. According to preliminary data, one of the targets of the attack was the military airfield in Millerovo,” the report states.
A video also appeared online, allegedly capturing a fire in the area of a military airfield.
The fact of the attack was forced to be acknowledged by the governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar. He traditionally declared that it had been “repulsed.” The official explained the glow from the fire as “a burning gasoline tank.”
The Russian city of Millerovo is an important road and rail hub. It is also known for the fact that 5 km northwest of the city is located a military airfield of the same name. The 31st Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 1st Mixed Aviation Division is based there.
But Ukrainians are more familiar with the Millerovo airfield from the daily reports of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about Russian air attacks: in almost every one of them, Millerovo is mentioned as one of the launch points of Russian “shaheeds”.
Previous strikes on Millerovo airfield
Ukrainian soldiers carried out the first strike on the Millerovo airfield in the Rostov region on February 25, 2022: then a Tochka-U missile flew over this military facility.
This strike began a series of attacks on the airfield. Thus, attacks on it were actively carried out in 2024.
In July of that year, a fire broke out near the airfield and oil depot, and three fire centers were recorded after that.
In September 2024, an arrival and fire were again recorded at the airfield.
“Bavovna” also visited “Millerovo” in December last year.
Previously, OBOZ.UA reported that drones attacked a military unit in Slavyansk-on-Kuban: a fire broke out there.
The Afipsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar Krai was also set on fire by Ukrainian UAVs. This was not the first time it had been hit.
