On the night of December 2, suicide drones attacked the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation. Numerous explosions were recorded in the region.
According to preliminary information, the port and the Ilya Oil Refinery were under attack, according to the monitoring Telegram channel Supernova+.
Explosions in Russia
Explosions rocked Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai, at night. According to eyewitnesses, at least 9 drones were seen over the city. It was also reported that the target of the attack in the Russian region was a port and a local refinery.
In addition, powerful explosions were heard at night in the urban-type settlement of Novomikhailovsky in the Tuapse district. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that on the night of December 2, Krasnodar Territory was under attack by drones.
According to the terrorist agency, during the night, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 8 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles over the territory of the Krasnodar Territory.
Refinery under attack
The Ilya Oil Refinery is one of the largest petrochemical enterprises in southern Russia and plays an important role in the production of petroleum products. The total capacity of the primary refining units is 6.6 million tons of oil per year.
The plant produces straight-run gasoline fractions (including gas stable gasoline), diesel distillates (low-freezing diesel fuel), fuel oil, kerosene, gas oil, bitumen. The company also specializes in primary oil refining.
In 2023, the processing of raw materials amounted to 5.285 million tons. In 2024, according to some reports, the plant suffered a net loss of 38.3 billion rubles. Like other refineries in Russian regions, the plant has repeatedly been hit by drones.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Russia was again hit by Ukrainian drones on the night of December 1. In particular, towards morning, explosions were heard in the city of Kaspiysk, located in Dagestan; the target was probably the naval base of the Russian Caspian Flotilla.
