Ukrainian children were taken to the Russian Federation on Putin’s military planes, – study

The kidnapped were subjected to pro-Russian re-education.

The Humanities Research Laboratory at the Yale School of Public Health has identified 314 Ukrainian children who became victims of the Russian system of forced adoption and guardianship.

In a new report, they concluded that the Russian Federation engages in systematic, deliberate and large-scale forced adoption and foster care. The program for their Russification is carried out under the leadership of Putin.

According to the results of the study, all identified children were taken out of Luhansk and Donetsk regions. They were placed in 21 regions of the Russian Federation and entered into Russian databases on placement of children:

“At least 67 of the 314 children from Ukraine have been naturalized as Russian citizens since their removal to Russia, although the Yale Human Rights Group can reasonably assume that the number of formally naturalized children is much higher.”

At least 208 children were given up for adoption/care, or temporarily placed with Russian families. In addition, guardians were allowed to leave Ukrainian citizenship on their behalf.

It was found that 46.6% of the identified children have siblings who are also included in the databases. In at least one case, three siblings were placed in custody without the oldest child.

From May to October 2022, Russian aviation and aircraft under the direct control of the Putin administration transported several groups of children from Ukraine on military transport planes:

“Children from Ukraine were subjected to pro-Russian re-education in each of the eight known institutions where the children were transferred before they were subsequently entered into Russian databases.”

As UNIAN reported, last year the International Criminal Court issued warrants for the arrest of Kremlin ruler Putin and child rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova.

The Humanities Research Laboratory of the Yale School of Public Health has already published an investigation into the creation of detention centers for Ukrainian children on the territory of the Russian Federation and occupied Crimea .

The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenka, is also accused of involvement in the deportation of children .
