Good for Ukraine! If only Nato would provide long range radar and aviation electronics to upgrade Mig-29s, too. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that fine plane, but it urgently needs better capabilities to detect and shoot down russian cruise missiles.
Problem is quantity and spare parts as well, which is why they need a major influx of upgraded Airframes.
After all those years since 2014, Motor Sich could have come up with a replacement engine for the Mig-29s. But ok, that company had been busy producing heli turbines for russia, I’ve read. Maybe now, that the traitorous CEO is gone, things could change there?
Interesting possibility, I haven’t heard how they’ve (Motor Sich)been operating since then, but it has to be at least some better by now. There were many helicopters that had blades removed as well as other sabotage from prior administration. It would be great if they were able to turn things around and become a major contributory to Ukraine defense again.
I refreshed my memory, earlier this month one of the plants was struck by the rashists. The plant was struck almost a year ago as well.

Here’s an article on the former CEO sabotaging helicopters.
