Ukrainian Armed Forces Destroyed the First North Korean ATGM at the Front – Forbes (video)

Ukrainian drones are targeting not only Russian equipment, but also North Korean missile systems . As Forbes analyst David Axe writes, Ukrainian drone operators from the Vitrolom group tracked down and shot down a Bulsae-4 anti-tank missile system in the Kharkiv region.

“The explosion, spotted by a second Ukrainian drone, apparently burned off part of the eight anti-tank missiles that the Bulsae-4 was carrying in its upper launcher. The Vitrolom group said that the North Korean machine was disabled,” the analyst writes.

As Axe notes, this is the first confirmed strike on North Korean equipment that the DPRK has deployed on the front lines of the Russo-Ukrainian war. In addition to the unspecified number of Bulsae-4s, the North Koreans have also sent dozens of M1989 howitzers and M1991 rocket launchers to Russia.

As the analyst notes, record losses exceed the Kremlin’s ability to recruit, train, and deploy fresh troops and create or restore spare armored vehicles, and deprive Russian regiments and brigades of momentum.

“Without thousands of North Korean soldiers and dozens of howitzers and launchers, the Russian military effort would be even more fragile than it is now. That’s why the first Ukrainian strike on the North Korean machine in Ukraine is such a big deal. To repel a dual offensive in the Donbas and the Kursk Bulge, the Ukrainians will have to not only continue to wear down Russian forces, but also begin to wear down North Korean forces,” Axe concludes.

Bulsae-4 – what is known about it

The first information about the Russian use of this ATGM on the front appeared in July. As “Military” noted, such a complex can hit targets beyond direct visibility at a distance of more than 10 km. However, there is almost no accurate data on the characteristics of this weapon.

It is known that the Bulsae-4 installation consists of a rotating package of eight containers with missiles, placed on the chassis of a North Korean M-2010 wheeled armored personnel carrier with a 6 x 6 wheel arrangement. The guided missile has large stabilizers and a top-down attack mode.

Forbes previously wrote that the DPRK transferred 100 artillery systems to Russia, including M1989 self-propelled howitzers and M1991 rocket launchers , capable of destroying cities.
