The Ukrainian Defense Forces used a drone to destroy a Russian strategic bomber Tu-22M3 that had just landed. This was reported to LB.ua by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
“A few days ago, our successful actions destroyed a long-range Tu-22M3 bomber. It had just landed and our drone hit it. The cost (of the plane – UNIAN) is about $100 million,” he said.
Syrsky added that the strikes on Russian arsenals have reduced the use of artillery ammunition. In addition, several facilities where “shaheeds” were stored and prepared for launch were destroyed, which also led to a decrease in the number of their attacks.
Also, according to the general, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully struck several airfields, forcing the Russians to push their aircraft deeper into the rear. If earlier the aircraft were based at a distance of 100-150 km from the front, now they are 200-300 km, in particular in Engels and Shaykovka.
“The Russian fleet is actually locked in Novorossiysk. Sometimes it breaks through, but for them it is a test because they know that they are constantly under threat from our strikes,” Syrsky added.
At the same time, the Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine regularly strike elements of the enemy’s air defense system, which significantly weakens their capabilities both in defense and in recognizing Ukrainian air attack means. The loss of each such station is tens of millions of dollars in losses for Russia.
Recall, it was recently reported that a Tu-22M3 strategic bomber “crashed” in Russia . According to military expert Ivan Stupak, Russia does not have the technology to resume production of these aircraft.
