“In wars of high intensity and scale, it is the quantity that plays a role. They must be high-tech, because then they will give a very cool result. But there must be a lot of them. That is, one, two, three missiles – we will be able to say “wow”, but this will not solve the fundamental problems that this type of missiles faces,” Podolyak noted.

The purpose of this weapon, according to him, is to destroy the infrastructure that allows the Russian Federation to use aviation.

“In general, there are two instruments of warfare that affect our and our partners’ psycho-emotional state. The first is strategic aviation on the territory of the Russian Federation. We must destroy this entire infrastructure. It is impossible to restore the Russian Federation’s aircraft manufacturing industry in the form of the Tu-22, Tu-160, Tu-195. This means that missiles must work here. And in order to destroy this infrastructure, we need not one “Palyanitsa”, but hundreds. Well, or Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG (an Anglo-French long-range cruise missile), or ATACMS (an American tactical ballistic missile) of the corresponding range in the corresponding quantity. The second component is tactical aviation, these are all these guided air bombs. We must destroy along the front line, and for this we need frontline missile defense systems, a lot of aviation – not 5-6 aircraft, but a lot. All this needs to be resolved. And this is not emotion, this is mathematics,” Podolyak noted.

Production of Ukrainian weapons

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a decision had been made to increase funding for the missile program to increase the production of domestically produced missiles.

Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Defense Forces have successfully used the Ukrainian development R-360 “Neptune”. In August, it was reported that Romania plans to cooperate with Ukraine on the development of domestic anti-ship missiles R-360 “Neptune”, following the example of other European countries.

The president did not say which complex he was talking about. According to Defense Express, Zelensky probably meant the Sapsan operational-tactical missile complex, also known as Grom-2.

Back in July, Zelensky spoke of “good dynamics” in the Ukrainian missile program . At the same time, he said that Ukraine was gradually approaching the possibility of using its own missiles, and not just relying on supplies from partners.

According to the OPU, over the 2.5 years of full-scale war, Russia has launched about 10,000 missiles of various types and more than 33,000 guided aerial bombs at Ukraine.
