Ukraine’s Forpost brigade of the State Border Guard Service has returned more than 10 square kilometers of territory on the Pivdenno-Slobozhanskyi front to Ukrainian control, the agency’s press service reported on Oct. 3.

Border guards said the Forpost brigade took over the defense sector in that area in June.

During combat operations there, the unit said it had killed 118 Russian soldiers and captured seven others.

On Sept. 4, State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko said Russian forces had spent about a week trying to probe Ukrainian defenses in the Vovchansk municipality of Kharkiv Oblast.

Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions in an attempt to expand the area under their control.

Demchenko added that the Russian army has remained active in the Vovchansk municipality since the start of the year, particularly toward Dihtiarne, but has not achieved significant success during that time.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
