Ukraine’s 🇺🇦 MAUL Robot to Be Produced in Sweden 🇸🇪 for Battlefield Evacuations

Ukrainian drone manufacturer Aidrones and Sweden’s Njord Technology have signed an agreement to deploy production of the MAUL ground robotic evacuation complex in Sweden, Militarnyi reported on June 16.

The deal falls under the Build with Ukraine initiative, which pairs Ukrainian defense developers with foreign manufacturing partners. Representatives of the two firms first met in 2025. Njord Technology specializes in autonomous systems, all-terrain vehicles, and snowmobiles.

The Swedish production line would allow Ukraine to scale manufacturing of evacuation robots outside the range of Russian long-range strikes, while keeping most of the output directed back to Ukrainian units.

He indicated that most of the complexes built in Sweden are expected to be supplied to Ukraine to meet the Defense Forces’ need for unmanned evacuation platforms.

The MAUL program began at the request of the Armed Forces’ First Medical Battalion, which needed a mobile means to evacuate wounded personnel under difficult combat conditions. The platform carries an armored capsule, and its chassis is built for high endurance and survivability, capable of withstanding heavy mechanical loads.

The complex travels up to 110 kilometers on paved roads and up to 100 kilometers off-road, reaching 50 km/h on hard surfaces and 40 km/h across rough terrain. Its tactical employment radius extends to 50 kilometers; onboard systems can run autonomously for up to 48 hours, and continuous movement lasts up to 5 hours.
