Norway will remove the MLRS from storage and hand them over to Great Britain, which will modernize them and send them to the Ukrainian army to repel the invasion of Russian invaders.
“We must continue our support to Ukraine so that it can continue its struggle for freedom and independence. More weapons are needed, and this is very necessary for Ukraine. We would not have achieved this without close cooperation with the United Kingdom,” said Norwegian Defense Minister Björn Arild Gram.
We are talking about three MLRS M270 systems. Earlier, the decision to transfer similar equipment was made by Great Britain and Germany, which will also transfer three units each.
“Our weapons need significant modernization, so we agreed with the British that they will receive Norwegian weapons in order to send more modern weapons to Ukraine. This is an example of good cooperation between allies,” said Björn Arild Grama.
Thus, the currently known number of Western MLRS transferred to Ukraine is 17 units: 8 HIMARs from the USA ( four already in Ukraine ) and 9 MLRS (MARS II) from Great Britain, Germany and Norway.
Also, Norway will transfer to Ukraine another 5,000 155-mm caliber shells for M109A3GN self-propelled guns, in addition to the 5,000 previously transferred.
