Poland will hand over to Ukraine the latest portable anti-aircraft missile systems “Perun” (MANPADS “Piorun”).

As the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak wrote in his Twitter account, the relevant decision was made by the Council of Ministers.

“Good news. At my request, the Council of Ministers adopted a resolution on assistance to Ukraine. We will provide state-of-the-art Polish equipment – Piorun portable anti-aircraft missile systems and ammunition, “said the Polish official.

Perun MANPADS is a deep modernization of Polish Grom complexes manufactured by Mesko. During the modernization, the sensitivity of the infrared homing head was quadrupled.

The missile has a warhead of 1.82 kg and can hit targets at altitudes up to 4000 m and a range of up to 6500 m.

Perun can hit small air targets, such as UAVs, by contactless blasting.
