As part of security assistance, the United States will hand over additional Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine.
This was announced by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
At a joint meeting, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed US military assistance to Ukraine.
“President Biden has approved the allocation of an additional security package for the provision of Javelin armor-piercing systems and other weapons,” the US Secretary of Defense said at the meeting.
Lloyd Austin also noted that since 2014, the United States has allocated more than $ 2.5 billion to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, namely to preserve territorial integrity, border security and increase cooperation with NATO.
It will be recalled that on August 27, US President Joe Biden ordered to provide Ukraine with up to $ 60 million for security needs.
The Biden administration said the aid package to Ukraine was needed because of “a significant increase in Russia’s military activity along its border,” as well as mortar shelling, ceasefire violations and other provocations.
“Significant gaps in Ukraine’s potential need to be addressed urgently to strengthen deterrence in light of the current Russian threat,” the Biden administration said in a statement .

In late 2017, the US presidential administration decided to sell Ukraine lethal weapons, including anti-tank missile systems Javelin.
On March 1, the US State Department approved the sale of 210 Javelin anti-tank systems and 37 launchers to Ukraine for a total of about $ 47 million.

Also, American instructors are conducting courses for Ukrainian instructors to prepare combat calculations of anti-tank missile systems FGM-148 Javelin.
At the end of the training, Ukrainian instructors receive appropriate certificates from American colleagues and certificates from the NASV School of Antitank Artillery.
