This loan will be supported by proceeds from Russian frozen assets.

Ukraine will receive a loan of 35 billion euros from the European Commission to meet its needs.

According to the correspondent of UNIAN, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said this at a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Today, the European Commission approved proposals that will allow the European Union to borrow 35 billion euros from the commitment of the “Big Seven”. This is a huge step forward. We are convinced that we will provide this loan to Ukraine very quickly,” Von der Leyen emphasized.

The President of the EC specified that this loan was supported by proceeds from frozen Russian assets. The funds will go directly to the national budget of Ukraine.

“This will improve the macro-financial stability of Ukraine,” Von der Leyen stressed.

She clarified that Ukraine will decide how best to use these funds.

    • I don’t care if it’s a loan, donation, give away. My only question when? I’ve heard too many promises in the past…”long on promises short on deliverables.”

      • Unfortunately it seems likely that the putler genocide horror will continue until he’s dead. Possibly longer.
Therefore a significant portion of that needs to go on the hiring and equipping of mercs; at least ten divisions worth.
Firstly a 100% reliable ammo stream needs to be established, secondly more artillery/MLRS’s, more MBT’s, long range fires and F16’s with foreign volunteers.
That €35 billion will burn up in no time.

          • It goes without saying that the existing ground forces need to have a secure supply of ammo and everything else. But what I’m saying is they don’t have enough ground forces to take, hold and fully fortify their own land.

            • Although the trained Ukrainian Armed forces should be the priority, I’m still very much in favor of Mercenaries, as well as a multinational force securing Western Ukraine.

              • I don’t know how many divisions Ukraine has, or how many troops. Numbers are estimated in the 600-900,000 range, but it could be different.
An average division might be 15,000, so I thought ten divisions of mercs would be more than helpful for Ukraine.
If they started recruiting now, some might be ready in six months.
There appears to be no end in sight to putler’s demonic war.
But I so much hope to be wrong.
