Michael McCaul is convinced that the production of missiles for the Patriot system in Ukraine is in the interests of American defense contractors
American defense contractors, including Lockheed Martin , are interested in Ukraine being able to produce interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, said Michael McCaul, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee from Texas, Bloomberg reports .
“I think it’s in their best interest for a number of reasons. If the president wants it done, it’s in their best interest to comply with his request,” the official said.
The agency recalled that during a meeting at the NATO summit in Ankara, US President Donald Trump informed his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky that Washington may grant Kyiv a license to produce missiles for Patriot systems.
Journalists noted that McCaul made this statement during his stay in Ukraine, where, according to him, Ukrainian military officials informed him about domestic drone production technologies and the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in liberating territories occupied by Russia.
“I think the Ukrainians can build it faster, maybe even better. So Lockheed could learn from the Ukrainians about their own interceptor missiles – how to improve them, how to produce them faster,” the official added, speaking of missiles for the Patriot.

However, the pledge by US President Donald Trump, made on Wednesday during a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky at the NATO summit in Ankara, was an important gesture of support.
