Ukraine supporter General Milley resigns as US Chief of Staff

Milley is remembered as a strong supporter of helping Ukraine in its war against Russia.

Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley has resigned. He held this position for four years.

According to Reuters , Milley, whose tenure ended this month, will now hand over command to Air Force General Charles Brown.

Brown will become only the second in US history and the first black officer in the last two decades to head the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the main working body for command and control of the US Armed Forces. Last week, the U.S. Senate approved Brown’s appointment by a vote of 83 to 11.

Mark Milley’s resignation – what was reported

In May of this year, President of the United States of America Joe Biden officially announced the replacement of the head of the US General Staff . Even then it became known that Charles Brown, who is called Biden’s protégé, could head the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Mark Milley was appointed to the position in 2019 by then-President Donald Trump. On the eve of Millie’s term expiration, Trump accused the senior military official of secretly negotiating with China behind his back. The general responded that he would “take appropriate measures to ensure his safety and the safety of his family” because of the former president’s statements.

Milley chaired the committee throughout the full-scale war in Ukraine and is remembered as a strong supporter of our country. He advocated sending billions of dollars worth of weapons to Kiev and criticized Moscow for launching a “campaign of terror” against civilians.

  1. Mike may have been wrong about some things but he was a genuine supporter of Ukraine. Additionally he helped rein in Trump’s more erratic behavior.

“Trump accused the senior military official of secretly negotiating with China behind his back.” Millie was not “negotiating”. He was back channeling a message to Beijing that Trump was not going to attack China as a pretext to refusing to step down. Thank God,

When Trump ordered Millie to illegally use Federal US troops to put down the riots in Portland. Millie also repeatedly refused to so could not seem to make Trump under stand that the Chairman of th eJoint Chiefs does NOT command the US military and can not order any of the services to do anything. In frustration Millie is reported to of said in the war room “There must be a dozen lawyers in here can one of you explain to this guy why it is illegal?”
Finally Millie drafted a letter of resignation stating he could no longer stand by while the President tried to politicized the US military.
The fact that Trump recently said Millie should be summarily executed should tell any person who cares about American democracy all they need to know about the worst President in US history.
Thank god there were some courageous and honorable people to oppose Trump like Millie and others and close out this dark chapter in US history.
I admired John Mccain but if he had acted with such disregard for the laws and institutions that have defined this country I would say the same things about him also.

    “Sic semper Tyrannis”

  2. You’re a Trump hater, not a Ukraine supporter.

    Big difference.

If you remember too, it was McCain who delivered the fake dossier to the American KGB
