Ukraine should not give up Crimea: US general explained how to return the peninsula

Putin will not make diplomatic agreements that would involve giving up Crimea, Hodges is convinced.

The United States should not have started negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation with the assumption that Kyiv would have to give up part of its territories . This opinion was expressed by General Ben Hodges, former commander of the US Army in Europe, on Radio NV .

“This is before any real negotiations. I don’t understand this approach, it’s wrong. Ukraine should not succumb to pressure and give up part of its territory. Especially one as strategically important as Crimea. Crimea is not just a piece of Ukraine because of its geographical location,” Hodges said.

He believes that Ukraine can return Crimea. In his opinion, this will cause a break within the Russian Federation itself. The general noted that Putin will not agree to diplomatic agreements that would involve giving up Crimea. However, according to Hodges, Ukraine can do this by force.

“I trust the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are acting very wisely. Crimea must be isolated so that the Russians cannot get there or leave. This means that that big bridge must be destroyed sooner or later. Crimea must also become unusable. All this can be done thanks to high-precision strikes, special operations and sabotage. When Crimea becomes isolated, then Ukraine will be able to return it. Eventually, it will be necessary to enter there with troops. But I do not imagine an amphibious operation right now, this is unrealistic in the conditions of modern warfare with drones and long-range weapons,” he explained.

  1. Retired British General Sir Richard Shirreff, aged 69, has already set out his vision for defeating putler. He said he’d need €75 billion per year to do it.
Retired U.S. General Ben Hodges, aged 67, is also fizzing with ideas.
Both are younger than Captain Cornflake, actually support Ukraine and want to help.
EU: do something useful. Team them up, give them €100 billion of the putinaZi cash and hire them as strategist/quartermasters.
Give the other $200 billion to the ZSU and let them get on with it.

    • That would involve 5 to 7 years of discussion, studies, more debates, more studies, a plan to work out a strategy, another plan to work out the next round of discussions…
Well, I think you know what I mean.
