Ukraine should be allowed to strike Belarusian territory — Lithuanian FM

Ukraine should have the ability to strike Belarusian territory to defend itself from Russian aggression, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said on May 31.

According to RFE/RL, Landsbergis made the comment while talking to the press ahead of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.

“If Russia, fearing that its assets might be attacked in Russia, relocates them somewhere else, then I think that targeting decisions should also be adjusted,” the minister responded to a question whether Ukraine should be permitted to target Russian military targets in Belarusian territory.

By May 31, both Germany and the United States confirmed they have given Ukraine permission to use Western weapons to attack Russian military assets across the border, but only in areas directly adjacent to Kharkiv Oblast.

On May 29, AFP reported, citing unnamed sources, that Ukraine has already used Western weapons to strike Russian territory several times, most recently in Krasnodar Krai.

  1. “If Russia, fearing that its assets might be attacked in Russia, relocates them somewhere else, then I think that targeting decisions should also be adjusted,”

Definitely! This needs to be done now, instead of in a few months time, when another round of hot air will delay any decision even further.

Looking back, Ukraine should have carried on into Belarus when they chased the orcs out of Kyiv. Luka would have disappeared to mafia land and Ukraine wouldn’t have needed as many men protecting the border with Belarus.

  2. Ukraine should be allowed to strike China. So-called North Korean shells and missiles are all made in CHINA.

  3. This is where Lithuania and Poland need to pull thier military into Belarus and eliminate the threat. All words and no action, let Ukraine do all the dirt work. Tough prime ministers talk action and sit on their hands.

    • I agree. Belarus has been a nuisance to both countries for years, yet all they have to offer is hot air.
