One of them, who is a resident of government-controlled part of Luhansk region, had been gathering intelligence about Ukrainian forces and military equipment engaged in repelling Russia’s armed aggression.

Ukrainian counterintelligence agency, the SBU, has ceased the illegal activity of two Ukrainian citizens who had been providing intelligence to terrorist groups of the so-called “LPR”, the SBU press center reports.

During the pre-trial investigation, security operatives gathered evidence that the woman, who is a resident of government-controlled part of Luhansk region, had been gathering intelligence about Ukrainian forces and military equipment engaged in repelling Russia’s armed aggression.

“She would transmit the data received to another Ukrainian national, who is a militant with the so-called 4th separate motorized brigade of the 2nd Army Corps within the ‘LPR’ terrorist organization,” the statement said.

To date, both citizens have been charged with encroachment on territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, as well as setting up a terrorist group or terrorist organization. The case was forwarded to court.

  1. Good news of course, but publicising it is potentially helpful to the enemy. Spies need to be quietly taken to a secure place, interrogated and squeezed dry of intel before being locked up and exchanged at a later date.

  2. Seems to me this falls under treason definition. A patriot will not turn sensitive military information over to the enemy. Tough economic times might push a person to consider such, but there is usually options.
