Ukraine says Russia used Oleshky truce to reinforce positions | Ukraine Brief (video)

A Melania Trump-brokered ceasefire in Oleshky, the longest of its kind since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, came to an end on Sunday evening. No violations were recorded throughout the six-day truce, which allowed for civilian evacuations from the Russian-occupied town. However, according to the Ukrainian military, Russian forces used the truce to rearm certain positions contrary to the provisions of the ceasefire agreement. Ukraine’s Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, in a press conference on Monday, said that the humanitarian mechanism established in Oleshky could be replicated in other occupied Ukrainian settlements. Ukraine’s government-backed Air Alert app was compromised late Sunday, sending users false warnings about nuclear and chemical attacks.

To discuss this and more, Ukraine Brief host Ayse Abaci is joined by Iryna Krasnoshtan, Program Director, International Center for Ukrainian Victory.
