Germany’s Bild has published what it claims to be a confidential list of weapons Ukraine has requested from Germany as part of ongoing military assistance.
According to Bild’s report, cited by European Pravda, the list outlines Ukraine’s desired military equipment, reportedly worth billions of euros, and is divided into three categories: air defense, armored vehicles, and electronic warfare systems.
Since Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government took office, Germany has ceased publicly disclosing details of arms deliveries to Ukraine. Similarly, the Ukrainian government has refrained from publishing data on the German aid it receives.
The leaked list, handed over by the Ukrainian side to German officials, includes a request for four additional IRIS-T air defense systems. Ukraine is also seeking 1,500 guided missiles for the IRIS-T SLM medium-range system and 500 for the IRIS-T SLS short-range system.
Additionally, Ukraine is asking for 200,000 rounds of 40mm anti-aircraft ammunition to counter Russia’s growing use of drones.
In the category of armored vehicles, Ukraine is requesting 1,000 mine-resistant vehicles, 200 tracked vehicles in various configurations, 30 armored demining vehicles, and between 20 and 30 WiSENT-type engineering tanks. The request also includes 200 off-road vehicles for special operations forces.
In the field of electronic warfare, Ukraine is seeking 1,000 GPS jammers to neutralize enemy drones, as well as 200 mobile ground-based radars for surveillance and target acquisition.
While military sources and defense industry representatives confirmed the existence of such a list to Bild, Germany’s Ministry of Defense declined to comment, citing security reasons and the government’s new communication policy on military aid to Ukraine.
“For reasons of operational security and in accordance with the federal government’s revised communications policy regarding support for Ukraine, we do not comment on individual assistance items,” a ministry spokesperson said.
It’s worth noting that in June, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced Berlin would provide Ukraine with an additional €1.9 billion in military support.
