This is probably the first time that the Hungarian Prime Minister has publicly called Ukraine an enemy of Hungary.

Ukraine is Hungary’s enemy because it lobbies to ban Russian gas and oil supplies to Europe. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated this while speaking at a meeting with activists of the ruling Fidesz party in Szombathely.
“As long as Ukraine does this, Ukraine, excuse me, is our enemy. Ukraine violates our fundamental interests by constantly demanding and inciting Brussels to cut off Hungary’s access to cheap Russian energy. Anyone who does this is not Hungary’s adversary, but its enemy,” he stated.
In his speech, Orban also complained that Brussels allegedly wants to send soldiers to Ukraine under the EU flag.
“We don’t want to be involved in this and see Hungarian youth [on the front lines] in Ukraine. But this happens every week – something that brings us closer to war,” the Hungarian prime minister said, suggesting that this is “part of Brussels’ plan” to drag us into a war against Russia.
During the question-and-answer session, one ordinary Hungarian asked Orbán how real the threat to Hungary was, given that “Ukraine is a rather unpredictable country and we don’t know what might happen in the Ukrainian conflict.”
“Your question concerns the stability of the Ukrainian state, its people, and its army. So should we be afraid that the situation will spiral out of control and Ukraine will pose a threat to Hungary with its EU-funded army? The answer is that nothing is certain. In the future, Russia could occupy Ukraine. Is that something I don’t want? I’d argue,” Orbán replied.
