Russia launched 138 attack drones at Ukraine this morning, more than half of them jet-powered. Ukrainian air defenses achieved impressive results in intercepting the drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

According to the military, Russia launched 138 drones at Ukraine between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Of these, 90 were jet-powered.

During this period, Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down or suppress 125 drones, including 79 jet-powered ones. Thus, 87.78% of the jet-powered drones were neutralized.

As of 6:00 p.m., up to four attack drones were detected in Ukrainian airspace. Ukrainians were urged not to ignore air raid alerts.

Challenges in intercepting jet-powered drones

Russia has been actively attacking Ukraine with jet-powered drones, which are much more difficult to shoot down than conventional Shahed drones.

It recently emerged that Ukrainian specialists have already developed interceptor drones to destroy such targets, but mass production has not yet begun.

Meanwhile, yesterday, October 14, the US imposed a speed limit of 160 km/h on communications reception by Starshield terminals, which are used, among other things, on interceptor drones.

An informed source told RBC-Ukraine that these restrictions prevented interceptor drones from catching up with Russian jet-powered UAVs.

  1. This is a very important development. I remember when this number was far lower only a few weeks ago. And I remember the daily and nightly attacks in Kyiv by these devilish things. I’m looking forward to 95% destruction rate.
