Ukraine increases gas imports by 57%

13.03.2020 10:44In January-February 2020, gas imports into Ukraine totalled 1.438 million cubic meters, up 57% compared to the same period last year.

“In February 2020, 981 million cubic meters of natural gas was imported into Ukraine, up 47% compared to February 2019,” the press service of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine reports.

As of March 11, 2020, gas was imported exclusively from the European Union countries. Ukraine has not been importing gas from the Russian Federation since November 2015.

In particular, in January-February 2020, gas imports from Slovakia amounted to 987 million cubic meters, up 59% compared to the corresponding period last year, from Hungary – 229 million cubic meters, up 41%, from Poland – 222 million cubic meters, up 140%. The imports from Poland also include 178 million cubic meters of virtual reverse.
