Keith Kellogg notes that Ukraine’s nuclear status is not at all where one should start in the search for peace.
Ukraine has no real chance of restoring its nuclear status . This was stated in an interview with Fox News by the US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently repeated his earlier idea that in order to reliably deter Russia from a new attack, Ukraine needs to either become a NATO member or acquire nuclear weapons. When asked by a journalist to comment on this message, Kellogg was categorical.
“The chance that they will get their nuclear weapons back is somewhere between minimal and zero. Let’s be honest, we both know that’s not going to happen,” he told a reporter.
Kellogg noted that returning nuclear weapons to Ukraine is not the way to begin efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“When someone says something like that, look at the consequences or the potential,” he said.
Trump’s special representative declined to disclose specific intentions regarding how the new US presidential administration plans to end the war. He intends to first hold talks with the leadership of Ukraine and Russia, as well as with European leaders.
“When you’re making plans to stop this carnage, you have to make sure you have a sense of all the players in the game. Once we have those personal discussions, then you can really work… on concessions,” Kellogg said.

If you take what he says literally, he is correct, zero chance of getting back those rusty old POS nukes they gave up. Who wants them anyways, no maintenance, would you trust orcland to return usable nukes? Now, would the US supply components, or assist Ukraine in the last mile of developing their own, Id hope so.
