New circumstances have created a window of opportunity for Ukraine to strengthen the upcoming document on security guarantees from the US, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi said on the air of the “United News” television marathon.
In particular, the spokesman was asked why there were new rounds of talks on security guarantees between representatives of Ukraine and the United States.
A new window of opportunity
As Tykhy explained, earlier during discussions on the topic of security guarantees for Ukraine from the US, these guarantees were finalized almost to their finished form, but since then the situation and circumstances have changed somewhat. In particular, he attributed to these circumstances the situation in the Persian Gulf in connection with the war in Iran, as well as some demonstration of Ukraine’s capabilities. Tykhy emphasized:
“Due to these circumstances, the security guarantees document is currently being finalized with the aim of strengthening it. That is, it is about the fact that a certain new opportunity has opened up to finalize and make this document, to fill it with even stronger provisions.”
As the diplomat noted, this week a very important conversation took place between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump’s negotiating team, namely Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
“They discussed it in detail,” Tykhy said.

“As of now, the (Ukrainian) team – Budanov, Kyslytsia, Hnatov, Syrsky, that is, the entire military component – is actually working on finalizing this vision of how this document, updated and strengthened, could look. As far as I understand, on Monday they plan to present it to the President of Ukraine. The President will consider this document as it looks. And after that, this document will be transferred to the American side next week,” Tykhy said about the logic of the process.
At the same time, the Americans, in turn, should also consider this document, familiarize themselves with what exactly the Ukrainian side added. And then, as Tykhy reported, after the Americans’ reaction, the next formats of meetings will be discussed.
Ukraine awaits the arrival of the American team
“Indeed, our invitation to the American side remains open. We will be happy to welcome them to Kyiv when they are ready to come. I know that this was really discussed – the possibility of such a visit. From our side – we will be happy to welcome them. But again, the team is currently finalizing this document to show to the President of Ukraine. He will consider it and next week it will be transferred to the Americans. That is, the track is alive, absolutely developing,” Tykhy emphasized.
He added that everything is logical, because a window of opportunity has appeared, opened, to strengthen this document.

As is known, on April 1, Zelensky reported a good conversation with Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Senator Lindsey Graham and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also participated in the phone conversation.

Sir Larry I would have agreed with your opinion prior to TRUMPKOV. However, what he has shown regardless of congressional approval a president can do virtually anything he wants. Look at what that fool is talking about NATO. That is an 80 year security agreement signed and approved by congress but that doesn’t help. If Trump can do this, the most despicable human being I know, others can also do. God will help those who help themselves.
