The United States will convey to Russia that reciprocity on Moscow’s part is the key to achieving peace.

Ukraine has agreed to the US proposal for an immediate temporary ceasefire lasting 30 days. However, Russia must first agree to the ceasefire.

“Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal to immediately introduce a temporary, 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, subject to acceptance and simultaneous implementation by the Russian Federation.

The United States will inform Russia that reciprocity on the part of Russia is the key to achieving peace,” reads a statement published on the website of the President of Ukraine, following the meeting of the Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia.

In addition, the delegations discussed the importance of humanitarian efforts as part of the peace process, in particular during the aforementioned ceasefire, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of detained civilians and the return of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.

“Both delegations agreed to determine the composition of their negotiating teams and to begin negotiations immediately to achieve a sustainable peace that will ensure Ukraine’s long-term security.

The United States committed to discussing these specific proposals with Russian representatives. The Ukrainian delegation once again emphasized that European partners must be involved in the peace process,” the statement said.

At the same time, the presidents of both countries agreed to conclude a comprehensive agreement on the development of Ukraine’s critical mineral resources as soon as possible in order to strengthen Ukraine’s economy and ensure Ukraine’s long-term prosperity and security.
