Ukraine’s defense industry has developed the Palianytsia missile-drone, which is already in use.
Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin said that on August 24, the new weapon was successfully used for the first time. This information was also confirmed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
“It struck an enemy military facility in the temporarily occupied territory,” said Kamyshin.
According to the minister, Palianytsia is a drone and a missile at the same time, which falls under both definitions in terms of its tactical and technical characteristics.
The defense industry will begin to increase production of the new product for strikes on Russian military targets.
“There will be more missile-drones, just as there are more long-range strike drones, the results of which we see almost every day,” said Kamyshin.
The Palianytsia is likely a maneuverable drone that has been fitted with a jet engine and a powerful warhead.
It is worth noting that on the night of Saturday, August 24, an ammunition depot exploded in the Voronezh oblast after the strikes.
Before the strike, the sound of a jet engine was heard in the sky from an unidentified aircraft flying toward Russian targets.
Ukraine has long been developing drones that will be able to quickly reach a target.
In January of this year, it was reported that a new jet-powered strike drone had made its first flight in Ukraine.

In the aft part of the new drone, an unknown type of power plant was placed, which is likely a jet engine.

Okay, I think it seems obvious that this is not a missile drone, but a drone that’s powered by a jet engine, and it probably functions very much like a cruise missile. As it looks, it gets launched from the ground and not from an aircraft. But, this could be a further development in the near future or a basis for a homegrown cruise missile.
Ukrainian humor…
“Palianytsia” Is basically a ring of bread, like for a pizza. It is also often used in Ukraine as a password because the theory is, Moskali CAN NOT say the word correctly. 🙂 When the war first broke out, the children gathered to defend their cities and made visitors say the word. If they said it wrong they were not allowed into the city. God love Ukraine. I wonder why they chose this name for the drone rocket?
I think it means burning, burn or, burning up
Learn something new every day. Thanks.
We will have to watch our laughter when the Moskali reports come in that Ukraine attacked Moskovia with bread 😉
I’m sure I’ve heard somewhere it can also mean ‘Strawberry’ but I wouldn’t swear to it.
Maybe strawberry bread? My wife’s favorite is the cherry bread so that wouldn’t be a stretch.

Thanks for the link! The name of the drone means burning or burning up.
I think it is Ukrainian military humor to use a name the Moskali can’t pronounce. Can you imagine the reports, “We are being attacked by flying bread!” 😉 See my link above, Ukrainians even made a stamp in honor of this bread.
😂
Here is the drone/missile shown taking off and flying. It’s certainly not a small drone/missile.
This weapon seems to have been ready during the winter already. I keep hearing the name “missile drone”. I would call it a jet-powered drone, drone jet, or jet drone. Whatever it should be called, I hope it’s highly successful.
Zelensky claims it has been used already. Judging by the recent explosions, I would say very successfully too.
I wonder what the technicals details are … speed, range, minimum flight altitude, navigation system, and warhead weight. But, such things will be top secret, no doubt.
I believe in the video he said the range was 200km, but the part that grabbed my attention was how low it was able to fly.
That range is what’s published, but I can’t imagine that this is the truth.
There is no need to let the orcs know everything. It could also lure the orcs into moving planes back to 200km, then finding out the range is 500km.
Would they be so stupid?
Yes!
