Ukraine concluded an agreement on the production of ammunition with the defense company Northrop Grumman

The American company will also provide training for Ukrainian workers on the manufacture of weapons.

The American company Northrop Grumman concluded an agreement on the joint production of medium-caliber ammunition in Ukraine. Thus, it became the first defense company that will manufacture weapons within Ukrainian borders during the war, writes Breaking Defense .

At the same time, a representative of the company said that no Northrop employee will be in Ukraine and they will “perform this work at our enterprises in the USA.”

“As part of the joint production agreement, Northrop Grumman will provide equipment and conduct training to set up an assembly line so that [the Ukrainian firm Ukroboronservice] can produce and test modern medium-caliber ammunition in Ukraine,” he added.

According to Steve O’Brien, Director of Global Business Development at Northrop, the agreement was signed at the Embassy of Ukraine on Wednesday.

“Such innovative approaches not only help Ukraine meet its aspirations to be part of the arsenal of democracy, but also expand the capabilities that we desperately need around the world. It’s not just the potential that we’re looking for in the United States. It’s those [co-production agreements] that joint developments and partnerships that will expand opportunities throughout the region,” he emphasized during a discussion at the NATO Public Forum in Washington.

A source told Breaking Defense that Northrop will send production equipment to Ukraine and will personally train selected representatives of the Ukrainian workforce at a location outside of Ukraine.

At the same time, the source refused to say when the ammunition will start arriving at the front line, but stressed that all involved parties are “working very quickly.”
