Ukrainian official Alexander Kamyshin said he witnessed operators from Litavr remotely destroy Shahed drones in what could mark the first confirmed drone-on-drone interception during a large-scale russian strike
A new development in Ukraine’s air defense may signal a shift in how the country counters large-scale drone attacks, as remotely operated interceptor drones are now entering combat use.
According to Alexander Kamyshin, he personally witnessed a successful interception carried out by operators from Litavr, who remotely piloted an interceptor drone to destroy an incoming Shahed drones. The engagement resulted in a confirmed kill and, notably, was described as the first instance of a remote drone-on-drone interception.
The incident reportedly took place during one of the most massive aerial attacks on Ukraine, when waves of Shahed drones were launched in an apparent attempt to overwhelm the country’s air defenses. Such saturation tactics have become a defining feature of russia’s long-range strike strategy, placing increasing pressure on traditional systems.
Against this backdrop, the emergence of interceptor drones offers a potentially transformative solution. Unlike conventional surface-to-air missiles, which are expensive and limited in supply, drone interceptors could be produced and deployed at scale, helping to address the cost imbalance that has long favored the attacker.
Another advantage lies in operational flexibility. Remotely piloted interceptors allow operators to visually track targets and adapt in real time, which is particularly useful against low-flying and slow-moving drones like Shahed. This human-in-the-loop approach may complement radar-based systems that can struggle with such targets.

Ukrainians are very innovative. You would think NATO countries would be queuing up at the door to get their hands on this technology. Minus the US who don’t need it of course.
Maybe there will be a report about which country is interested in what Ukrainian technology. I’m not very informed about this and am always looking.
You would assume every European country would be interested in drone technology, but we know how quick Europe are about making decisions.
Europe is a prime example in the world on how to be a sloth.
