On the night of August 30, Ukrainian drones visited at least two regions of the Russian Federation: Leningrad Oblast and Krasnodar Krai.
Explosions were heard there, and eyewitnesses reported fires and secondary detonations.
One of Russia’s largest oil refineries in Kirishi and a military airfield in Yeysk were hit. Details were collected by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.
Explosions in Yeisk
Russians from the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation complained about the Ukrainian attack at night, in particular, it was loud in Yeysk.
There was a report of an attack on a military airfield, after which a secondary detonation began.
As of 5 a.m., the secondary detonation at the airfield had been going on for over an hour.
NASA satellites record a fire at the airfield.
Pretty quickly, one fire turned into several.
“NASA FIRMS has updated the fire map again; apparently, the strikes were accurate. Local residents also report that the strikes fell not only on the airfield itself, but also on the military town,” Exilenova+ added.
The Yeisk airfield is one of the most important military aviation facilities in southern Russia for the Russian Federation. It is home to the Russian Navy’s Naval Aviation Flight Training Center and the NITKA complex, where Russians train carrier-based aircraft.
Explosions in Kirishi
Explosions that night also occurred in the settlement of Kirishi, Leningrad Region.
After them, the city residents watched the fire .
The Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery, one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, was hit there. The refinery’s processing capacity is about 20 million tons of oil per year, or about 400,000 barrels per day.
The enterprise produces gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel.
The damage was confirmed by local governor Oleksandr Drozdenko.
“42 UAVs were shot down over the territory of the Leningrad Region. As a result of the UAV attack, a fire broke out in the industrial zone of the city of Kirishi, emergency services are working at the scene. Combat work is ongoing,” the Russian official wrote, without specifying how many drones were “shot down” by the oil refinery itself.
Falcon Insight has previously established that the damage occurred in the area of the critically important installations L-35-11/1000, LCh-35-11/600, LCh-35-11/600, AT-1, hydrotreatment LCh-24-9/2000 (59°29’20.26″N 32°04’17.46″E)
“The enterprise is fully integrated into the structure of the Russian oil company Surgutneftegaz. It is the only oil refinery in northwestern Russia and one of the largest in the country,” the publication adds.
This refinery has been attacked before.
Thus, on September 14, 2025, the plant stopped oil refining at one of the units after a fire caused by an attack by Ukrainian UAVs. The damaged unit accounts for almost 40% of the plant’s capacity.
On the night of October 4, 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the enterprise, explosions and a fire were recorded at the facility. The LAB-LABS units, which produced linear alkylbenzenes and linear alkylaromatic sulfonates, and the ELOU-AVT-6 unit, which was engaged in the removal of water, salt and primary processing of oil, were hit. After the strike, the plant was forced to stop its most powerful primary oil processing unit . .
On the night of March 26, 2026, Ukrainian drones again attacked the KINEF refinery, which provided 6.4% of Russia’s capacity. Damage was confirmed to the ELOU-AVT-2 and ELOU-AVT-6 primary oil refining units, as well as bitumen production, hydrotreating, and gas fractionation units.
On the night of May 5, 2026, the refinery was attacked by drones, a fire and damage to infrastructure were recorded, which led to the cessation of oil processing at the enterprise . The strike caused damage to key installations.
As OBOZ.UA reported, explosions were heard the day before in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation: after them, a fire broke out in warehouses.
Also, the other day, Ukraine hit a TU-95MS missile carrier in Engels, Russia.

Eliminating all refining capacity would be ideal, but eliminating the last two–diesel and kerosene–is the most important facet of destroying the mafia refining industry. I hope Ukraine can achieve this ASAP.
