On the night of August 25, Krasnodar Krai was subjected to a massive drone attack. One of the main targets was the Afipsky oil refinery.
Around midnight, a series of loud explosions were heard in the area of the enterprise, after which a fire broke out on the territory of the plant. This was reported by the monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+.
Consequences of the attack
According to local residents, explosions were heard in the industrial zone shortly after the airstrikes were announced in the region. Eyewitnesses observed a glow after the UAV strikes. There were also reports of thick smoke rising from the facility.
Representatives of the regional operational headquarters reported that emergency services are working at the scene. Data on the extent of damage to technological installations and the presence of casualties among the company’s employees are currently being clarified.
Krasnodar Territory Governor Veniamin Kondratyev also reported that at least 10 private homes were damaged in the village of Afipsky. The official also confirmed that the fire occurred on the territory of an oil refinery.
The significance of the object for the occupiers
Afipsky Refinery is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in southern Russia with a design capacity of over 6 million tons of oil per year. The plant specializes in the production of gasoline, diesel fuel and fuel oil.
The enterprise provides about 2.1% of the total volume of oil refining in the entire Russian Federation. Each year, the plant produces more than 2 million tons of diesel fuel, about a million tons of vacuum gas oil, as well as significant volumes of fuel oil and gas gasoline.
The plant is located in the Krasnodar Territory, in close proximity to the Black Sea ports and the occupied Crimean peninsula. This location makes it a crucial logistics hub for the uninterrupted supply of units of the Russian occupation army.
As a reminder, explosions were heard in Perm, Russia, on the morning of August 21. Smoke rose above the city, and a series of explosions were reported at a local refinery.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the day before, Ukraine struck the Perm oil refinery and the “Marynivka” military airfield. The Defense Forces also struck again at the “Akhtubinsk” airfield in the Russian Federation: a Su-34 heavy fighter was damaged there.

The total volume of production doesn’t matter, what matters is that all refineries must be set ablaze.
