Ukraine applies anti-dumping measures against Turkish cucumbers and tomatoes

The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade has adopted a decision to apply anti-dumping measures against the import of fresh cucumbers and fresh tomatoes originating in Turkey into Ukraine.

This was announced by the Uriadovyi Kuryer [Government Courier], Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The report states that after considering the complaint of several Ukrainian companies and after a thorough inspection, the commission concluded that the import of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes from Turkey was carried out at dumped prices.

It is noted that the anti-dumping duty at a rate of 20.1% to 26.9% is being introduced for a period of five years.

Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitalii Koval wrote on his Telegram channel that the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade adopted a decision in support of Ukrainian vegetable growers, recognizing that the import of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes from Turkey was carried out at dumping prices.

According to the minister, such imports threatened not only the profitability of Ukrainian greenhouse farms, but also the very existence of the industry.

“This decision is not against anyone. It is for fair competition. For Ukrainian farmers to have equal conditions in the market, to be able to invest in development, modernization, new jobs. Every Ukrainian has the right to high-quality, safe, fresh products – grown at home, in compliance with standards and with care for the land,” the minister wrote.

The commission’s decision, adopted on July 7, comes into force 10 days from the date of publication of the message.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 7, the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade adopted a decision to apply final anti-dumping measures on the import into Ukraine of fittings for water supply and heating systems originating from China and Turkey.
