Ukraine appealed to the chairman of the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the organization of negotiations with Russia on the removal of more than 14,000 bodies of invaders from Ukraine.

This was announced by Vice Prime Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk at a briefing.

“Today, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal met with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer. During this meeting, we raised the issue of the need to organize the collection and identification of the bodies of the dead military forces of the occupier. We drew the attention of the Red Cross that Russia still has not requested the release of the bodies and remains of her dead, the number of which has long exceeded 14,000,” she said.

Vereshchuk noted that the Ukrainian side turned to Maurer so that he suggested that Russia “show respect for its dead soldiers and start negotiations to take them out of Ukraine.”

As UNIAN previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the International Committee of the Red Cross forbids the use of its emblem on our vehicles that carry out humanitarian missions.
