Ukraine 🇺🇦 Turns GTA V Into a Battlefield Drone Training Ground

A Ukrainian drone training center has adapted Grand Theft Auto V into a custom FPV drone simulator designed to help train drone operators in urban combat scenarios, according to statements published by the WeTrueGun training center on May 15.

The project, called Seek & Destroy, is based on the original PC version of GTA V Legacy, which developers modified to simulate FPV drone operations in a combat-like environment. According to WeTrueGun, the simulator is used as an additional training tool alongside standard civilian and military drone simulators.

“What you see in the video is not a military simulator in the classical sense. In fact, the project is based on GTA V Legacy—the original version of Grand Theft Auto V for PC,” the training center said in a statement published on Telegram.

According to WeTrueGun, FPV drone training at the center begins with civilian simulators such as LiftOff before moving to specialized military platforms, including UFDS and Obriy. The GTA-based system was developed as a supplementary environment intended to provide additional flight practice between core training sessions.

The developers said the modified simulator reproduces several aspects of real FPV drone operation, including maneuvering, speed control, spatial orientation, and navigation in urban terrain.

According to the center, the platform also includes combat-style scenarios where operators must identify enemy vehicles hidden among civilian traffic and conduct simulated strikes.
