The UK will allegedly support the sending of German Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine if the German government makes such a decision. London has long advocated for these missiles to be in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but the final decision rests with Berlin.
This is reported by The Telegraph , citing sources in the British government. Recently, Friedrich Merz, who is likely to become the new Chancellor of Germany, said that he would transfer the Taurus to Kyiv , but only after agreement with London and Paris.
According to a British foreign policy official, the United Kingdom has long advocated for Germany to transfer Taurus missiles to Ukraine, and would support the move if the new chancellor did so now.
“We continue to work with our partners, including Germany, to equip Ukraine as best we can to defend its sovereign territory,” journalists quoted him as saying.
Current German Chancellor Olaf Scholz refused to provide Kyiv with the Taurus, fearing that it would be too much of an escalation that could drag Berlin into direct war with Moscow. He feared that Kyiv might use the Taurus to attack the Kremlin or to destroy the strategically important Kerch Bridge in occupied Crimea.
According to The Telegraph, Berlin’s refusal to allow Chancellor Scholz disappointed Great Britain and France, which provide Ukraine with their long-range Storm Shadows and Scalps missiles.
A senior MP from Merz’s CDU party, Roderich Kiesewetter, said on Wednesday that talks on Taurus in the new coalition were continuing, but clarified that British support would help Berlin make a final decision.
“The supply of Taurus remains a matter of dispute… I don’t see any consensus here yet, especially given that the parties have not agreed on key security policy issues in the coalition agreement,” he said.

There is too much fear in Scholz to be a useful leader during a conflict such as this. Had he and Biden been more courageous, this war could be over already.
The decision to finally send Taurus should be done without lollygagging around by asking European partners. Anyone with even a lick of sense knows that it’s more than high time to destroy that damned bridge.
Ukraine desperately needs this missile in big numbers. I don’t know how many Storms that the UK has left to donate and I don’t know if production has been stepped up or not. The UK armed forces need them too.
I know that just one takes some while to manufacture (how long is classified). They cost about £1 million each, whereas the ATACMS are much less.
The putinaZis love to spend $1 million on an Iskander especially to murder children. They absolutely love it, because they are fucking fiends.
Just think : a US president; not Biden and certainly not Krasnov, could end this war on favourable terms for Ukraine by providing unrestricted Tomahawks and ATACM’s in big numbers.
