The UK has trained Ukrainian pilots and ground crews ready to receive Sea King helicopters. This is part of a new £50 million support package with Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said the UK’s support for Ukraine would remain “unwavering”.
Sea Kings came into service during my time in the Royal Navy in the late 1970’s and are robust, reliable and well-proven in battle.
They have a range of 1,500km and can carry 27 soldiers at a speed exceeding 300km per hour. They can launch Eagle and Exocet missiles and are a great asset for the brilliant Ukrainian Special Forces.
