Two-thirds of Americans want Biden out of the presidential race, Newsweek

67% of respondents said that Biden should step aside and let someone else run for president.

Two out of three Americans want incumbent US President Joe Biden out of the election.

As Newsweek reports with reference to ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos polling data, pressure on Biden continues to grow after an unsuccessful debate on June 27 with former president and likely Republican candidate Donald Trump.

This poll is very important because Peter Welch recently became the first Democratic senator to publicly call for Biden to resign. This could have a positive effect on Vice President Kamala Harris if she replaces the American leader as the Democratic nominee. The poll found Harris ahead of Trump among all adults with 49 percent approval, compared to 46 percent among Republicans.

67% of respondents said that Biden should step aside and let someone else run for president. Another 30% are convinced he should continue the campaign, and 3% skipped the question.

According to the poll, 62% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independent candidates believe Biden should resign. Among those who were ready to vote for Biden in November, 54% now also think he should resign.

Trump doesn’t have much more supporters, with 50% of respondents saying he should withdraw, 47% saying he should continue, and 3% skipping the question.

As UNIAN wrote, the conviction that Joe Biden should withdraw from the presidential race and give way to another candidate is growing in the US Democratic Party.

The famous Hollywood actor and financial leader of the Democratic Party, George Clooney, who last month was one of the organizers of a large fundraiser for US President Joe Biden , is now persuading him not to run for re-election.

“We’re not going to win in November with this president. And we’re not going to win the House and we’re going to lose the Senate. That’s not just my opinion. That’s the opinion of every senator, congressman and governor that I’ve talked to privately. Everyone, regardless , that he or she is saying publicly,” Clooney explained.
